Total Eclipse and Beyond - Outdoor Photos By Rena

Total Eclipse 2017 and Beyond Photography Workshop

Total solar eclipse

1-Day Workshop August 21, 2017

Speaking of rare events, for the first time in 26 years, we will have a TOTAL Eclipse of the sun as the moon passes directly between the sun and the earth. The number one place listed to see this Eclipse will be Clayton GA in the heart of the North GA Mountains. Please note this event is August 21, 2017.

The Eclipse will begin on at 1:06 pm. It will reach full eclipse at approximately 2:35 pm and will last for 2 minutes and 35 seconds. The eclipse will finish by around 4 PM.

The Workshop:

The eclipse itself is very short lived. However, we will begin our workshop at 9 AM that morning so we go over everything needed in order to capture this magnificent occurrence in the most splendid way! We will spend the rest of the morning working one on one with each participant, making sure you fully understand what you need to do with your camera in order to capture this from beginning to end in a way that you will be SO proud to show others your accomplishment and will want to share those images for years to come!!

And what about afterwards?

As this is a very rare event, I want you to leave the workshop with new skills that will help you in a lot of other situations as well, so that you don't have to wait for the next eclipse to put them to use.

To that end, we will cover several different tricks and techniques as well as filters and other tools that will allow you to capture other events or scenes similar to this one but far more frequent, such as sunsets and sunrises, super moons, Aurelia Borealis (Northern Lights), meteor showers, and more.

So when you leave this workshop, you will have some amazing images of the eclipse as well as the tools necessary to take all of your sky shots to a new level as well !!! :)

What you will need:

A camera with manual controls

A Tripod

Circular Polarizing Filter (for the Sunset shoot the night before)

Neutral Density Filter (for waterfalls in the area)

Solar Filter - (You have to have this filter for each lens that you plan to use during the eclipse! )

Solar Glasses

The manual or guide book for your camera if you are not familiar with its controls

Note: If you do not already have the filters listed above, I will be happy to go over them with you and help you decide which one you need for this and other shots.

Accommodations:

Although this is a one day workshop, there are so many beautiful places in the surrounding area, you might want to stay a day or two! If so, there are a variety of hotels and other accommodations available in both Hiawassee (where I am) and Clayton, while they last.

Let me know if you need any help finding accommodations or have any other questions.

Final Notes:

While this is a very rare event, wouldn't it be awesome to have images such as the ones above in your portfolio? Unlike most scenes or subjects of study in my other workshops, this opportunity will only last a matter of moments. You have to get it right the first time, or at least VERY quickly afterwards! So make sure to come early, ask all questions and do all the practice shots, so that when the moment arrives, you are ready to capture it all as in the scenes below!

Total Eclipse 2017 and Beyond August 21 $175
