The Three-Day workshop also includes a 3rd day with a sunrise shoot out on the lake for those that are interested. Then we will have a nice breakfast followed by a few hours of editing some of the images we have captured during the workshop. This will include one on one instruction in photoshop with additional tips and techniques to really make those images pop.
Please see available dates and additional info below.
Its All Very Simple:
Capturing amazing images of the lake, wildlife, gorgeous reflections, amazing sunsets, the night sky and SO MUCH MORE, can all be done rather quickly and easily once you know all of the tricks of the trade. These techniques and skills can be applied to all other types of photography as well. With the Right Equipment:
That is what these workshops are all about. As soon as you sign up for the workshop of your choice, I begin working with you to make sure you have all the tools and/or equipment that you need. If you don't, I will help guide you through picking out the best ones for your specific interests. All workshops can be done with the equipment listed in the "What You Will Need" section for each one.
And Knowing How to Use Those Tools:
Beyond just having the equipment, you will need some technical know-how and tricks of the trade to be able to use those tools to capture these incredible scenes. I start each workshop in a classroom style setting where we go over all the info you will need throughout the entire workshop. Then I work individually with each participant one on one throughout the rest of our time together to make sure you get everything out of the workshop that hoped and then some. I will meet you where you and help you take your photography skills to the next level.
To Really Make Your Images Pop:
Even with the right tools and technical know-how, sometimes images can still be lacking something. Maybe they just don't quite pop like you wish they did. That is where the third aspect of these workshops picks up. In that classroom we mentioned above, we will go over basic composition and rules of photography and how they can benefit all of your images from the beginning.
Then in the field, I work with each individual student to take those rules out of the box and play around with them to ensure that each participant gets their own exceptional and unique images. I make it my mission to help each photographer capture different images that truly emphasizes their own personal passion and interpretation of the scene.
As this workshop is centered around Lake Sinclair, a majority of our time will be spent out on a pontoon as we tour this incredibly beautiful area.

About Lake Sinclair:
Lake Sinclair is a 15,330 acre reservoir owned by Georgia Power. Unlike Oconee, its big sister lake to the north, Lake Sinclair is not surrounded by hotels, resorts or golf courses. Instead you will find very diverse scenes and environments around every corner.
As you travel along the 417 miles of shoreline, you are likely to encounter a half million-dollar mansion next to a single wide mobile home followed by a nature area teeming with wildlife and natural beauty.
The water level of Lake Sinclair is controlled by Wallace Dam at its northern tip. An interesting process that happens here is that Georgia power produces electricity by pumping water from Lake Oconee into Lake Sinclair during the day and from Lake Sinclair back into Lake Oconee at night. Since Lake Sinclair is downstream of Wallace Dam, the water levels must be maintained at all times in order to keep this process going. While the water in other surrounding lakes goes up and down dependent on rainfall, droughts, etc., the water in Lake Sinclair remains consistent.
One of the upsides to this process of generating electricity by pumping the water in one direction and then the other is that Lake Sinclair maintains a very oxygen rich environment. This leads to an abundant fish population, which in turn, leads to an extremely diverse and abundant habitat for wildlife and waterfowl. Which brings us to the primary reason that we have chosen this area as our number one choice for this type of workshop.
At any given time when riding around the lake, you are likely to experience a different photo opportunity around every corner. From sunrise to sunset, from great blue herons, egrets, osprey, eagles and owls to a variety of woodpeckers and other smaller birds that make this lake their home as well as a wide variety of migratory birds. If you keep an eye on the shoreline you are likely to spot any number of mammals that also call this home such as deer, bear, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, wild pigs, racoons, otters, muskrats, beavers, opossums, to name only a few, as well as different types of amphibians and reptiles such as frogs, turtles, a variety of lizards and possibly even an occasional alligator.
Lake Sinclair is a magical place full of amazing photo opportunities every where you look. From Spring Flowers to Fall colors, from migratory birds to colorful sailboats, from early morning fog to majestic sunsets or gorgeous night skies overhead, with the sounds of nature all around, floating along Lake Sinclair is like taking a journey through a living work of art.
