4 Day St. Simon's, Jekyll, St. Augustine - Outdoor Photos By Rena

4 Day Photography Workshop Including St. Simon's, Jekyll, St. Augustine

Learn how to photograph everything from lighthouses, to sunrises, to a large variety of birds.

We will begin with one of the most beautiful Lighthouses at a variety of times during the day and in different lighting conditions, such as my personal favorite the examples below. We will spend one day going around St Simon and photographing that incredible location.

Then the next day we will head over to Jekyl Island and photograph all of the amazing scenery there beginning with sunrise out on Drift Wood Beach.

The third day we will spend at the St Augustine Alligator Farm. This workshop is planned to take place during the peak period of time when hundreds, possibly even thousands of birds will be there at varying stages of nest building and raising their young. Its a phenomenal place and a birding photographer's paradise. Included in the workshop fee is a special photographers pass, that is good for a year. So each of you could go back as many times as you want and it also allows us to get in earlier than anyone else and stay later.

There is a bonus half day workshop on the last day that we can choose which location we would like to revisit.

This is truly a nature photographer's dream trip all bundled into one. Plus you will have one on one guidance and instruction leading up to and during the entire workshop beginning with a classroom presentation the first day, as well as help with an optional photography contest afterwards, put on by the Alligator Farm.

Who is this workshop for:

Anyone can take this workshop from absolute beginning to advanced. I cater each of my workshops to meet you where you are and help you to take your photography to the next level.

What you will need:

Camera with manual controls

Tripod

Circular Polarizing Filter

Neutral Density Filter

Plenty of SD cards, compact flash or external memory (You will want to take a LOT of pictures on this trip!)

Extra Batteries and/or charging system

Comfortable shoes

Snacks and drinks. Other food options will be discussed on the discussion board as time gets close to the workshop. Often people bring potluck style meals to share, etc. Please make any special dietary requirements known as well.

Recommended but not required:

A laptop

Accommodations:

Accommodations are not provided for this workshop but shareable accommodations are often available in a central location. Please post any request to share accommodations in the comments section below to begin plans for those arrangements.

Transportation:

Transportation, including airfare, is not provided. However, carpooling is encouraged for those that wish to do so. We make these trips fun as well as educational and sharing them with others as we go along only enhances the whole experience. If you do wish to carpool, make it known if you have any issues such as car sickness, etc. or if you prefer to drive, etc.

Guests:

One guest is allowed per person. However, that guest has to pay all of their own fees, etc, other than the workshop fees, such as the photographers pass, etc. These workshops are such a great adventure and can be even more fun when shared with a loved one. Guest space is limited though in certain situations, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible if you are bringing a guest and email me and let me know that you will be bringing a quest. Do NOT RSVP with a plus one when registering unless they are also a photographer. If you do so, it will require payment for both. If you are just bringing a quest, just register yourself and message me to let me know you will be bringing a quest.

Final Notes:

For this workshop, as with most of mine, we will be shooting fairly late in the evening, most days, at least until after sunset and sometimes we keep shooting well into the night if someone wants to shoot some night sky images.

At least the day that we shoot Jekyll, we will be getting up early to be at the location and set up by the time the sun rises. Any part of the workshop that anyone wants to skip is welcome to do so and join us at the next place or time.

Also, the birding excursion that we will be going on, please keep in mind that we will be very close to the birds. Some of them you could potentially reach out and touch. They are extremely used to being that close to humans and pretty much ignore us altogether, but if you have allergies, etc., keep that in mind. You will be THAT close to the birds!

The nesting birds that we will be photographing are NOT in captivity. They come and go as they wish. They fly into this area as it is the perfect nesting area with the trees, so many other birds, and no predators except the alligators. The alligators are in captivity and are down below the boardwalks. So you will see a LOT of those as well, if you can take your eyes off of the birds and hatchlings :)

Further Questions:

If you have any further questions, just let me know. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you to make this the absolute best trip possible. I am already excited about this trip myself :)

Limited Availability:

Less people are allowed to take this workshop, than some of my others, as there is so much to do and learn and I want to give each participant plenty of undivided one on one attention throughout this whole experience. So sign up as soon a possible to secure you spot.

Financing Options:

Financing is available for this workshop, as with most of my larger workshops and programs. No credit check is done. We just require that you put the payments on a credit or bank card and allow auto draft of the payment amount each month. Discounts and sales are voided when the financing option is used.

See you on the Coast: I look forward to working with each of you and to making this a life experience that you will cherish forever.
